Tyler Shields
Tyler Shields is a professional photographer currently located in LA. He directs music videos, is a photographer and now works on creating video portraits. In most of his work, he uses water and fire elements alongside spotlights to create very contemporary images. This video that I have chosen to look at is a series of clips editted together with a song over the top. This is very good research as this is basically what I am going to do for my final piece. I really like how most of the clips do not match and are created upon different themes. I also really like how when the song speeds up (1:20 and 2:35) the videos are cut short and sped up, this is a technique that I would love to have in my work. Another good technique is using black and white and sepia tones over the top of my images.
There is a lot of white background in this video so that the viewer can concentrate on the subject fully. i don't think that I will be able to do that in my work as I don't really have much access to plain backgrounds. I also really like when the video is played backwards and when it is slowed down.
