Liv (Blood)

This is my first attempt at a stop-motion video, and I believe that it turned out quite well. I used my friend as the subject in the video and we played around with making some fake blood. I decided to try and make my own version of the blood which included hair conditioner, flour and natrual red food colouring. Unfortunately once i'd mixed it together it did not look real at all, it was too lumpy and light which is not very realistic. So I decided to just use a mix of the natural red food colouring and water, this again did not work. The food colouring that I was using was no where near dark enough. I then went looking in my local shop for other varities of the colouring, then I came across the normal version which I bought. I mixed that with some water and it turned out perfect, which I was very happy about.

I didn't really a solid idea of what I wanted to photograph for this video at first, so then I just decided to make it look like the model was bleeding from the mouth and that she has an injury on her arm. I tried out a few settings on my camera to try and find what that complimented what I was photographing. I made there be a blue tint on the lens since my bathroom (which I photographed this in) was so white. I wanted to give it a bit of colour.

Once I had shot about 500+ images, I uploaded them onto my laptop and sorted them out. I then added them into the software I would be using to put together the video (Song Vegas Pro). I tried to keep the video under two minutes in which I suceeded. I speeded up the video so that each image was on for 1/5 of a second. I then added a music track over the top (MGMT- Kids) and downloaded it. I chose that track as it's a very happy song and it is juxtaposed against the video.

I really like the final outcome of the video, I think that it is well editted and put together for my very first try. After watching it a few more times, I decided that on my next go I would speed up the video even more as I fell like the video does drag on a little bit because not much is actually happening.

For my next video, I will plan it out in much more detail and possibly use myself as the model. This will enable me to shoot it anytime I want too and I can easily direct myself.
